Texts, images, logo and design on this site belong to Alessandro Varini or are used with the permission of their owners; they may not be reused without permission. The content is prepared with care, but we cannot guarantee that it is always complete and up to date. Links to other websites lead to content Alessandro Varini is not responsible for.
2. Who is responsible for your data
The controller is Alessandro Varini, at the contact details above. For any privacy question, write to ciao@alessandrovarini.com. This notice follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for visitors from the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
3. What data we process and why
- Visiting the site. When you open a page, the server automatically receives technical data: IP address, date and time, the page requested, browser and operating system. It is used only to show you the site and protect it from abuse and attacks. Legal basis under the GDPR: legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Email. If you write to ciao@alessandrovarini.com, we process your email address, your name and what you write, to reply to you and, if you wish, to prepare a quote or a project. Legal basis under the GDPR: pre-contractual steps or contract (Art. 6(1)(b)). No information is mandatory: you decide what to tell us.
The site has no forms, newsletter, advertising, analytics or profiling tools. Fonts and all files are hosted on the site itself: the page does not connect to third-party servers such as Google. We make no automated decisions and do no profiling.
4. Cookies
The site uses no cookies of its own and no tracking tools, which is why there is no cookie banner. Our hosting provider Cloudflare may set, only when needed, a technical cookie to tell people from automated programs: it serves security and cannot identify you.
5. Providers and transfers abroad
We rely on a few providers that process data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States; data also processed in European data centres): publishes and protects the site and forwards emails sent to ciao@alessandrovarini.com.
- Google (Google Ireland Ltd. and Google LLC, United States): the Gmail mailbox where emails arrive and are stored.
Both companies are certified under the Swiss-U.S. and EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, recognised by Switzerland and the European Union as ensuring an adequate level of protection; standard contractual clauses also apply. We do not sell or pass on your data to anyone else.
6. How long we keep it
- Technical visit data: kept by Cloudflare for a short time, usually no longer than 30 days, unless needed to investigate an attack.
- Email: as long as needed to reply and follow the project. Emails that do not lead to an assignment are deleted after 2 years at the latest. If an assignment follows, accounting records are kept for 10 years as required by law (Art. 958f Swiss Code of Obligations).
7. Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and uses the main browser protections against injected content. Provider accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
8. Your rights
You can ask at any time to know what data we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict its processing, to object, and to receive it in a common format. Just write to ciao@alessandrovarini.com; we reply within 30 days. If you believe your data is not handled properly, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the European Union, the supervisory authority in your country.
9. Changes
This page may be updated, for example when the site changes. The version published here, with the date shown at the top, applies. If the language versions differ, the Italian version prevails.
